This canyon is bolted with 1/2 inch glue in bolts (2) at each rappel. However, some are on horizontal surfaces which flood in the right season. These should be evaluated carefully. There are abundant natural anchors as well. Plan to rig your own webbing as these stations are all very exposed to sunlight.

mgetchis--
Have you been in there recently? This canyon was burned in the Station Fire and has been closed for quite some time, and is still closed. I wouldn't assume any of the bolts survived the inferno.

Yeah we were there on the 23rd of june. People are still doing canyons fairly regularly down there. From the looks of the bolts they were post-fire. There were several sets of tracks running through this canyon, others were there within a week of us. Creek bed was full of tracks. When we parked, we were passed by several forest service officers, who slowed down, got a look, and kept going.

How was the canyon; any fire damage, debris, etc ?

no problems whatsoever. really. do yourself a favor and take classic down instead of the trail, it's probably faster, you get another canyon in. watch out for the 3" diameter rattlesnakes on your way down. they bite and it hurts. i'm not scientist of rocks, but they usually dont burn. generally, bolts are placed in rocks, and rocks dont burn good. we had some good raps. snakes, and mind the pull through, easily a half day for falls and classic.

Canyoneers should be aware that technically this canyon is definitely within the forest closure area from order 01-10-04; hiking off the road is apparently a class B misdemeanor and carryies a maximum penalty of $5000 or 6 months in jail.

Rocks don't burn ??? Wow I learn something new everyday.
How about trees and brush right next to the bolts, will they burn ?

The placement of the bolts in this one was such that there was no soil around them to have any growth. There are also natural anchor options which may be used. We slung a tree rather than use a pair of bolts that were in the flow path, they were covered in debris and the slings looked like they had been trough a flood.

That's interesting that you can trespass on public land. I wonder if I can pay less in federal income tax since I can't use that land? The place was littered with sign, including dirt bike tracks. There were fresh, (less than 3 days old) tracks throughout many of the canyons.
