Park in this area--N37* 13.891,W113* 28.429
Hike to first rap--N37* 13.566,W113* 28.899(180' rap)

The first rappel is off a marginal anchor that should be completely inspected each time.

After the first rappel, don't drop into the watercourse, but rather look for a shelf on canyon Left. Walk out on this shelf to a small cedar tree(be nice to this tree) Rap here about 40' down to a series of potholes. The last pothole in the series is a keeper.
Exit the keeper, down to the last 15' rappel.
The exit that we have used so far, begins around:
N37* 13.533,W113* 29.039
Hike up to the top, if you fixed your first rappel, retrieve that rope and climb out of the canyon.

This canyon is kinda nice for practicing natural anchor skills, as well as releasable systems. It might be nice if it stayed that way. There should never be a reason to place a bolt here.

Kurt took me through this canyon this past Sunday. It is a wonderful short canyon. The biggest tadpoles I have ever seen in the keeper. Awesome day when combined with Yankee Doodle. Thanks again Kurt!

Kurt, Did you find out how deep the keeper was?

On the upstream, skinny end I couldn't touch. At the wall the water was about 4-5'. Level was down from when you and I and Steve went in Feb. We used a pack toss, then an aider backed up with meat.

Thanks for the info Kurt.

It may be operator error (on my part) but that parking location plots in the Duttons. The others look correct.

just saying...:bighug:

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I typed it into Google maps and it still comes up south of Mt Dutton. I've even cut and pasted it.

I'll play around with it. I'm sure I can find the correct parking area once I get there.

This looks like a fun Yankee Doodle combo.

Samething happened to me on Google Maps only with the parking spot. But it should be obvious to guess a reasonable place to park.

Not sure what's going on with the coords. They work for me on google earth, never checked google maps. I'll investigate further.

Great canyon to do with Yankee Doodle. The ropework/anchoring, and pothole escape make it a more advanced canyon than YD though.

I'm WGS 84
Deg. Tenths. Minutes ; Not--deg minutes, seconds

Both coordinates for parking and first rap, start the same:
N37 13
W113 28

How can that send you to Dutton?

Still working on it, NG Topo put's it in the right spot also.

I got the same thing using google maps(Dutton)
I can't see where you change the settings there.

Google Earth and NG Topo work fine........
I've never played with google maps.

No worries. I can't use Google earth or the other at work. I'll have to check when I get a chance at home.

Then I'll convert it to MGRS that makes more sense to my Army way of thinking. :roflmao:

thanks again, Kurt.
