The Kachess River flows into Kachess Lake and is located about ten miles east of Snoqualmie Pass. The upper part of the river is really a creek with a small drainage area. The short canyon makes a good choice in early season when other canyons have high water levels. The water course is very narrow in places which makes for some interesting scrambling. The rock is very slippery. Gradually the stream entrenches itself into a deep canyon. There are two waterfalls to rappel.
