This canyon displays some very good examples of columnar basalt. The water flow is light in late season. At first the creek bed is clogged with many fallen logs. These soon give out, and you will be scrambling down stream over small boulders. The stream soon entrenches itself into a nice gorge. A narrow section has a point about ten feet wide. The going is generally easy, water is generally knee deep. There are many cascades to down climb.
