There are 27 “canyon creeks” in Washington. This one is about six miles east of Ross Lake in the North Cascades. The trail climbs steadily uphill gaining hundreds of feet as it follows the south side of the canyon well above the creek. Good views are blocked by the forest, but you can see several large waterfalls cascading down drainages on the north side of the canyon. After about two miles you will come to an unmaintained side trail taking off to the left. There is (as of 2005) a sign saying Rawley’s Chasm. It is reached very quickly. Rawley’ Chasm is a steep, narrow, and very loose slot gully that provides an interesting route down to the bottom of the canyon.
