The Clear Fork of the Cowlitz River has cut a beautiful rugged canyon know as Ayance Canyon. You will encounter big water and strong current. There are no falls but plenty of boulders to scramble and rapids you can swim through. After a half mile, Dam Creek enters on the left in a waterfall. At one mile you swim through a pretty narrows and pass under the highway bridge. The Clear Fork of the Cowlitz has a much bigger flow and should be done in late summer.
