The Mashel River has a short impressive gorge located a half mile from Eatonville. The gorge is popular with the locals but is otherwise largely unknown. Where the trail meets the river there is a thirty foot high cliff with numerous bolted climbing routes on it. You can swim and scramble through the gorge in less than a half hour. A wet suit is advised, although you can do without one on a hot summer day.
