Due to Skookum Creek’s small drainage, the falls may dry to a trickle by August. In spring or early summer the falls are an impressive sight with an enjoyable rappel route. The creek begins to drop steeply in small cascades. One 20 footer is best down climbed with the aid of a handline. When the creek goes through a pinch you will come to the first rappel. Anchor off a tree and go about 30 to 40 feet down the steeply sloping cascade. Just where it drops off vertically, there is a tree on the right which will anchor the next rappel. Two people can comfortably occupy this stance, but it is not a place for a crowd. The second rappel drops about 160 feet to a large shelf with a small pool.
