Summit Creek is a highly worthwhile canyoneering objective in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest east of Mount Rainier. It is about six miles long. The scenery is good to excellent for most of its length. Over the entire length you can expect to make 6 to 10 rappels depending on how you handle some of the waterfalls. Doing the entire six miles in one day would be difficult. You would need at least 12 to 14 hours. It’s a lot more pleasant to break it up in to sections A bridge crosses it at roughly the mid point so it can be easily done in two sections of about three miles each. Some of the nicest parts are close to where roads cross the canyon, so if you prefer, you could do these short sections and skip most of the canyon.
