The maps all say Little North Santiam River, but it is commonly known as Opal Creek. Located in the Opal Creek Wilderness Area, the river has cut itself a deep canyon. We have included route descriptions for two sections. The first is for the eight mile stretch from Opal Pool downstream to the Three Pools recreation site. The second is for the lower gorge downstream of Three Pools. We don’t have enough beta to provide a description for the section upstream of Opal Pool. There are supposed to be a lot of waterfalls and good narrows in the vicinity of Cedar Flats.
