The North Fork of the Artlish River carves a shallow, pretty canyon into the limestone country adjacent to the Artlish Cave system, in the Vancouver Island mountains northwest of the town of Zeballos. The canyon provides an easy technical descent through interesting karst terrain, although the scenery is generally fairly average for a wet canyon. An interesting side trip is therefore recommended, following the South Fork of the Artlish upstream from the junction of the two forks. The route is soon blocked by a slot canyon filled with deep, clear, green water, an almost supernaturally beautiful place.
