Discovered a really nice but really short technical section of canyon in a remote section of the Four Peaks Wilderness. The amount of work on the approach relative to the amount of technical canyon may not be appealing to many people. The canyon is known as Hells Hip Pocket on USGS maps "Horse Mesa Dam" and "Mormon Flat Dam". It is also identified on Beartooth Publishing's "Superstition Wilderness". It is a side canyon of Blue Tank Canyon, also very nice but none technical (if you are a solid climber). There are probably many ways into Hells Hip Pocket including by boat, but however you do it you are probably looking at a 2 day trip or more. There are 2 mandatory rappels up to 50 feet (maybe more if you are not a solid climber) and one long swim.
