Hello,

My name is Bryan Long and I have stumbled across this site while planning for a summer road trip. I have about 6-7 weeks this summer to explore CO, AZ, NM, Utah, and CA. I am planning on basing my time around backpacking trips, although will hopefully be doing a bit of canyoneering and climbing as well. Last year I lived in Australia and spent the majority of my time getting into the wilderness, doing a couple canyons, in the Blue Mountains, etc but I still consider myself a newbie in the outdoors.

Hopefully I will have some time to spend looking through this site and picking out a couple of choice beginner / intermediate canyons for this summer. Feel free to give me some suggestions. If anyone is interested in linking up for a trip, I will be around Utah, AZ, CO throughout July.

Great Site! -Bryan Long

I just wanted to welcome you into our forums! It's great that you are able to find helpful information here.

We just did a Globe, AZ trip a couple of months ago and it was the greatest trip I have ever done. I would strongly suggest you look into Cibique and the Salome jug canyon out there. I wouldn't recommend you do it alone though and Cibique requires to get an apache guide.

Let us know if you're somewhere around the San Gabriel area in California and we will try to coordinate a trip then.

Have fun with your canyoneering experiences!!

Thanks for the great info!

I was just curious if you think those canyons would be good to undertake in the summer? I think my best bet for the AZ summer will be to find a wet canyon with camping near by (which it looks like Cibecue is). Also, does anyone have more information on getting an apache guide for the Cibecue canyon? It sounds like a great option as I will most likely be alone for this part of my trip. I am definitely on a budget, so if you have any ideas about finding a cheap guide, I am all ears! Thanks again -Bryan Long
