Hi All,
I'm hoping for some help here. I'm a French translator, and I've been asked to translate a bit that involves adventure outings in the south of France. One of the activities is, of course, canyoneering which they say involves:

"saut, toboggan, rappel, nage": or in English "jumping, ?, rapelling, and swimming."

What use does a toboggan have in canyoneering? Or is there anything like it in the American practice of the sport? It might also refer to a sliding straight shot through a confined water way (like a channel or a bobsled). What would this be called in English?

Thanks much,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew

In European canyoning, toboggan does not refer to a snow sled. It refers to a water slide. More a verb than a noun.
