The ACA's web site includes a Canyoneering Techniques section. It includes specialized techniques for canyoneering, including knots and anchors, rope deployment, rappelling, ascending, aid climbing, rope rescue and swift water. Each technique is described and illustrated. You can find this feature at:

Is this post still true? And does that mean that it redirects you back to the forum?

Seth, you're pulling up threads from 2004?

There once was a technical section, but so much simpler to provide open discussions here on the forums.

I enjoy doing broad searches of the forum, and it doesn't discriminate on time.

These forums are filled with specialized techniques. Many of them include photos showing variations and experiments with alternative techniques as well. The most valuable aspects to me are the feedback about the techniques from the community rather than a definitive guide to how it should be done. Don't get me wrong though, different people have strong opinions about best practices based on their experiences and those are usually expressed as forum threads. The exception may be swift water techniques which I don't know anything about and are probably best learned through hands-on training anyway. Rich can correct me, but I believe the ART subscription service was to feature content on the go-forward basis as a way to prevent people from stealing content and re-distributing it. If you're not happy with the subscription service, why not cancel your subscription and spend some time like Seth is searching the forums for topics of interest? There is a wealth of valuable information here.

Did I miss something, Bill? I don't think Andrew was asking about my subscription site. It was not mentioned in this thread until your post.

Seth pulled up this thread -- from 2004. Back then I set up a techniques section in the "static" portion of the website. All of the stuff I posted there is now here in the forums.

I am moving this thread to the archives so it is clear to everyone that it is outdated.
