Smile Aug 10 - San Gabriels - Lower Eaton/Middle Muir

This is a tandem canyon trip: two groups will start at different times in different locations, ideally ending fairly close together at the exit.

Lower Eaton "slides and jumps" option
See the quintessential Brennen write-up. Our TH will be slightly different, though.

    Middle Muir "long day" option
Needs basic rappelling experience and good hiking ability. Be forewarned: we will NOT do the car shuttle and easy downhill stroll! We'll be hiking from the bottom from 1600' to 4500' (yes it will be steep) with all your gear and THEN doing the bushwhack. You should have good stamina and be prepared to be on the move most of the day. Last time we did this, we were a bit more casual (and I delayed the trip start) and did the last rap in Eaton with headlamps. Here's beta for MIddle Muir (note - ignore shuttle and TH info to Inspiration Point. Info after Inspiration Point will be useful.)

    cancels.

If we don't know each other please let me know your level of experience. An overview of mine is here:

Jason's Standard Disclaimer: This is not a guided trip - all who are on it are expected to have at least basic climbing/canyoneering skills (and some sense in their noggin! - KB).

Sure, but you know she'll add much more to it in the meantime.
    Have fun. Be safe.

Don't tell me you didn't already know that. How long have you been married?

One of the guys on our recent Arizona trip referred to taking the time away as "Making a withdrawal from the marital good will account".

Thats why it is easier to just bring the wife along. Then you get to do some canyons, and it also counts as time together...

Been married for 5years and been together for 15yrs total. I have already discussed Eaton with her and she has paroled me. Also got her to the climbing gym and now she wants to learn to rappel so she can try some easy canyons with me.

Chowjusky, what part of Southern California are you from? I have been getting my wife slowly involved in canyoneering but she definitely enjoys it more when she is not the only female on the team. I have taken her through Eaton, Bailey, San Antonio, & a bunch of practice at stoney point. We should get together with the wives for a canyon sometime. In fact it would be cool to have a "couples" event with several couples involved.

Whenever you have an excuse to come do some canyons in Utah- let me know, because my wife feels the same. I think she is used to being the only girl in a group of guys, but she definitely enjoys having some of her own whenever the chance arises....
