I'm visiting Arizona in mid-September, but it looks like it'll be too late to check out this canyon? Any other recommendations you might have?
The Jug can be descended year 'round, just understand that conditions change with the season. I personally prefer doing it between March and May. In these months the water is flowing and clean (but cold). I have done it in December and January. Colder water, not as much current. June-July-August, feels good to get in the water after the 2-mile hike in the hot sun, but when the water is warm there can be quite a bit of algae build-up. September and October can be good months. Water temp still quite nice, not as much algae. Not much flow.
