Ouray Rendezvous 2010

I think most everyone understands that the resource for information on the Ouray Rendezvous is the Meetup group. However, I have been contacted by a few people who weren't aware the information they were seeking was there. So I thought I'd post a note here to remind everyone planning to attend carefully read through all the information, including information found in the "Talk About This Meetup" section.

Answers to questions you may have including but not limited to:

Camping
Amphitheater Campground/Primitive Camping in the Area/People looking to share a campsite

Rendezvous Events
Registration Meet and Greet/Sign Up Sheets/Chinese Auction/Sat. Nite Program/Demo Gear/Ouray Mountain Rescue Highline Demo

Canyoning Opportunities
ACA Canyon Leaders sign up sheets/San Juan Mountain Guides/Technical Workshops

Local Sponsors
Ouray Mountain Sports/Antler's Motel/O'Brian's Pub/Ouray Mountain Rescue/San Juan Mountain Guides

Looking forward to a great event. See you there.

Saturday, third day of rendezvous about to begin. First two days included quite a few canyon descents, including Upper, Middle and Lower Oak, Portland, Angel, Bear and Cascade. Approx. 45 people here now from Colorado, California, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and Nepal. Nepal?

Friday evening English reeve highline rescue demo provided by Ouray Mountain Rescue Team. Saturday afternoon demo will be a 300 foot guided rappel demo by San Juan Mountain Guides.

Photo below from Erik Westesen's Facebook page: Rajendra Lama, volunteer rescuer on the highline demo over Ouray ice climbing park.

I had a great time in Ouray and will be visiting again very soon. Everywhere I went in town, the people I spoke with were aware of the Rondezvous and seemed very supportive of the event.

Just got home a few minutes ago. Had a great time with everyone. Town of Ouray and local businesses were very supportive.

Special thanks go out to Greg Foy and Kevin Koprek for all their hard work, to Charly for his help organizing, and to San Juan Mountain Guides and the Ouray Mountain Rescue Team.

Heard this morning that the gear raffle Saturday evening raised $320 for the rescue team. That's awesome.

So far this summer living vicariously through the internet has kept me sane.
(see "When to Retire Gear" http://www.canyoneering.net/forums/s...?t=4151&page=3)

This thread hurts because I really wanted to attend but I am physically unable.

I am glad every one was safe and the gathering was a great success.

That said, please, continue to post pictures and trip reports.

It really helps my head.

Brandt
