Most of the courses, rendezvous and events listed here are offered by ACA instructors, guides and leaders, but the calendar is not limited to ACA events. ACA affiliated local and regional meetups and group events can be posted here providing one source of information that is definitely worth a bookmark.
Events can be viewed as a chronological list or in calendar format.

ACA L4 / Assistant Canyon Leader Assessment

To become a L4 / Assistant Canyon Leader in the ACA you must pass the Assistant Canyon Leader assessment (Prev. CL1). Your skills, training, etc can be from any place or any classes you have taken. Bottom line is you need to pass the ACA assessment. It is a comprehensive assessment of the ACA skills checklists 1-3 (Core, Aspirant, Asst. CL).
TAKE NOTE – the skill checklists have been updated so make sure you have the current one which is located here: ACA Checklists
There will be a written exam in addition to assessing your skills.
THIS IS NOT A WORKSHOP, meaning you should have a good understanding and know how to apply your skills already. You have some time to prepare and if you have questions or need clarification, please contact the assessment host.
RATE: $100 Per Person. Sales Tax and PayPal processing fees included. Meetup processing fees not included.
PAYMENT POLICY:
Payments are Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable.
TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to/from training areas is not provided. Roads are rough and a regular car will not make it to most training areas. Please plan ahead with an appropriate vehicle.
GEAR:
We have basic gear available for rent. Rates are PER DAY and CASH ONLY.

THE SHOP:
We stock our favorite gear, equipment and ropes. Course discounts are applied 🙂
WEATHER:
The weather in Escalante can change quickly whether before the course or during it. We expect that you come prepared with rain jacket/gear.
